Unstream is a little app that help find music you love outside the streaming ecosystem. It recommends platforms better suited to support the makers of that music, plus free community alternatives to streaming apps provided by local libraries. With Unstream you can search any artist and find alternative platforms to support them; send any Spotify or Apple Music URL to Unstream; or use the app/extensions to get alternative platforms for the artist you're listening to, release alerts and more.

Hi there! I built Unstream for two purposes: help fellow listeners find better ways to support the artists they love more easily, build their own libraries, and ultimately reduce their dependency on streaming, while also encouraging fellow artists to trust & use these alternative models rather than relying on streaming as a conduit to success. It started as a way to help me build my own music...

I (personally) did not find a major separation between work/life feasible, especially when working remotely. For me, it's been a lot more valuable to invest in working with my team to establish asynchronous communication & decision methods so that each of our work/life balances can be respected and maintained. We still have meetings, but where possible we try to move things forward via chat and...

Interesting idea - the social tour guide angle is cool. What stops people from using it for things like prostitution? (Or do you guys care about that use case?)

A friend of mine is helping to make the Cogni Case and I thought it was a great idea worth sharing. I don't have a child, but I recognize the problem space and challenge new parents have creating memories of their newborns. This is potentially a really effective, and dead-simple solution! From the creators: "Cogni Case uses interchangeable art cards with STIM inspired designs to engage your...

This is really exciting! Pumped to check this out later. If it works like the existing wordpress.com (to which I've connected my .org sites via jetpack) this is a game changer to my workflow on Mac.

Just installed and I love the simplicity & premise. Excited to try it out in practice this weekend when I'm looking for stuff to do. One question though - why do you guys ask for my phone number in signup? It wasn't a huge blocker for me personally but I wonder if it's a necessity app/business side - I don't see any immediate value in the app for providing my phone number. You'll probably lose...

Interesting - definitely want to try this out. Seems like a Siri-without-speaking alternative or something.

I'm curious as to how news orgs, brands, etc. will use this. I can see the value to brands and marketers clearly - but I'm concerned that it might allow brands to cut down on some of the real, meaningful conversation with average consumers that Twitter currently thrives on (since why not just poll users about things instead of responding personally?)

Nice! I was going to ask what sets you apart from other instant news apps out there, but I just installed and loved how I didn't have to *do* anything to start reading quick news. It was just there for me - no signup or "pick my interests". Loved it. The headlines are a nice touch too - just a little bit of irreverence without pissing anyone off. Are you guys handwriting those? Or pulling from...

A friend of mine created a marketplace for anyone with a cool idea to design, crowdsource and sell a unique piece of jewelry. It's a pretty cool concept, and the designs so far are out-there and great. PH folks might love this! Will try to get the founder @eric_toczko in.

I love this podcast episode. I don't love the Nerdist podcast personally, but Chris Hardwick's story is great and inspiring for those trying to figure out what makes them happy and what to do with it. Michael Ian Black is also a great host and the honest but funny conversation they have about his path from broke actor to "nerd king" is incredibly entertaining and satisfying. It got me thinking...
