Clipcraft - AI video editor with no ads
Hi! I'm Anton.
For the last 3 months, I've been solo-developing an AI video editing app and yesterday it finally made it to Google Play and is now in the wild. I love travelling on a motorcycle. About 6 months ago I got tired of editing the videos from my trips, so I created an AI agent combining a vision model, LLM, Python video and audio editing libraries, and voice recognition into a frankenstein of Python scripts that ran locally on my laptop, editing the videos I threw at it.
The idea was simple: you shoot some videos, feed them to the agent, and it does the work. Upload & forget. And then after it worked out, I've decided to turn it into an app. I did have some coding experience (C and some assembler) back at university, but that was more than 15 years ago and since then I've dedicated my career to video editing and motion graphics. But, nevertheless, the basics helped me to vibe-code the app and get through the closed testing stages.
The main struggle so far was to pass the closed beta, as Google Play has a set of requirements for new developers, and it took me several tries to pass the obligatory 2-week testing period. I had to hire a team of QA engineers and pay some random people to test my app (the biggest expense so far, not counting the $200 subscription for Claude Code). But it let me pass the closed beta and now the app is live!
