The thing that stands out right away is that BYOK isn't slotted in as a "for advanced users" toggle. It's the whole architecture. Most AI extensions right now are basically OpenAI tokens with a markup, wrapped in a subscription. This one inverts that. You bring the key, prompts go straight to whoever you've configured (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, local Ollama), no middle server in between. The dollar savings are real if you compare a Plus seat to metered API use, but that's almost a side effect. The bigger thing is the lack of feeling like you're renting AI through someone else's pipe.
