When we created Shift, we set out to solve a problem that was driving us crazy: why do we have to leave what we re doing just to get AI help?

Recently started consulting with a startup, and I ve fully switched to Cursor for all my PRDs and PM needs no more Google Docs or anything else. I ll never go back!
With MCP, I ve even connected Google Docs, just in case I ever need it right inside Cursor itself, haha.
Oh, and I m nudging the devs here to try Cursor too slowly moving them away from Copilot.
Hi everyone I wanted to share my journey with my startup Shift as a 20 year old college student.
I started coding Shift for macOS in mid-November 2023. The idea came to me when I had to switch between so many tabs ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and constantly move back and forth. I thought, "What if there was an app that could edit text, code, Excel, or anything anywhere on the laptop with smooth integration on the spot?" After not finding anything like this in the market, I started coding it for about 10 hours a day and finally launched in mid-February 2025 with many customizations and more interesting features than I originally didn't plan.
I use it a lot for rewriting or answering to people as well as coding and many other things. This also works on excel for creating tables or editing them as well as google sheets or any other similar platforms. I will be pushing more features, there's a built in updating mechanism inside the app where you can download the latest update, I'll be releasing a feature where you can download local LLM models like deepseek or llama through the app itself increasing privacy and security so everything is done locally on your laptop, there is now also a feature where you can add you own API keys if you want to for the models.
