Does word count help you… or pressure you?

I intentionally removed word count from featureless because I noticed it changed how I wrote - I d optimise for numbers instead of ideas.

For you, does word count feel motivating, neutral, or stressful?

I m genuinely curious how different writers experience it.

Why I chose to remove features instead of adding them?

Most writing tools compete by adding more - stats, formatting, goals, streaks, word counts, background colors, AI helpers, and so much more.

I went the opposite direction and built featureless as a single writing surface with almost nothing around it.

Featureless is intentionally minimal - not “minimal with options,” but genuinely restrained. Most writing tools eventually grow sideways: folders, feeds, formatting panels, metrics, AI prompts, and collaboration layers. Featureless does the opposite.
