Ask the lab briefing, jump to the demo

A student use case we built for: the TA shows the steps once, then later you forget the order. In ToText you record or import the briefing, ask something like "what was the order of steps for preparing the sample?", get an answer with a time reference, and tap it to hear that moment again. Follow playback with a synced transcript if you want to read along. Hebrew included. Freemium, no ToText account needed to start. What would you ask your last lab recording first?

What tools or workflows help you find one moment in a long recording?

I record a lot of lectures and meetings now, and the recording itself is the easy part. Weeks later, finding the one moment where something was explained is where it falls apart. Scrubbing through an hour of audio never works for me, and a wall of transcript text isn't much better.

I've tried a few things: naming every file by course and topic, writing a timestamp note while recording, searching the transcript for a keyword. Each helps a bit.

Which tools or workflows have actually worked for you? Do you re-listen, skim a summary, or ask questions and jump straight to the answer? I'd love recommendations from other people who deal with long recordings.

Ask ChatGPT about a whole semester of lectures

Hi all, Eyal here, I make ToText.

Most students I talk to don't struggle with recording lectures. They struggle with finding the one explanation again in week 10. Pasting transcripts into a chat one lecture at a time gets messy fast: long chats, and no idea which lecture said what.

The ToText plugin in ChatGPT skips that. Record in the app as usual (60 languages, Hebrew included), then ask across everything you've recorded. For example: "Where did the lecturer explain the difference between X and Y?" or "What was said about the exam?" Answers come from what was actually said and include the moment it was said, so you can listen to those few seconds and check for yourself.

To connect: Settings > ChatGPT in the app, then add ToText in ChatGPT with the same Apple account. The plugin works on your ToText recordings, so you record in the app and ask in ChatGPT. Inside the app you can also ask about a single recording and jump to the timestamp. Freemium, no ToText account needed to start.
