I've worked with several real-time rendering engines, primarily Lumion and Twinmotion. A while back, I decided to give D5 Render a serious try, and although I was somewhat skeptical at first, it has earned a permanent place in my workflow on its own merits.
The most notable thing is its performance. It handles complex scenes with a smoothness that surprised me, even on a computer with an RTX 3070. This allows me to make lighting or material changes in real time without the frustrating pauses I sometimes experience with other programs. Live sync with SketchUp is quite stable; it's not perfect and, like all live sync, sometimes requires a connection reset, but overall it works well and greatly speeds up the process.
As for visual quality, the use of ray tracing is noticeable. Lighting is its strong point, and it achieves a very natural look with little effort, surpassing, in my opinion, other engines in its category in this regard. The resource library has improved a lot, but at first it was its weak point. Today, it's very capable, with a good variety.
In short, D5 has matured and become a very solid tool. It's not the solution for everything, but if you already have some experience and value a great balance between great image quality, speed, and a reasonable cost, D5 is one of the best options available today.
I recommend downloading the free version and trying it out in a pilot project. It's the best way to see if its workflow suits your needs.
