Beta feedback wanted — Compass AI is live, we need real builders to test it on real tools

Compass AI just went live in beta on IndieAIs.

What it does: three AI modes (Co-Founder, Co-Builder, General Advisor) that already know your tool before your first message. Listing audits scored out of 100. Competitor analysis with named tools. Positioning rewrites ready to paste. Investor readiness scores out of 60. Code generation in a dedicated viewer. Brand document drafting. Claude Code prompt engineering.

What we need: builders who will use it on a real tool and give honest feedback on what works and what does not.

Free access. No credit card.

We built a Claude Code prompt engineer into Compass AI — here is why

One of the most underappreciated problems in AI-assisted development is context re-entry.

Every Claude Code session starts blank. You re-explain your project. You re-state your constraints. You re-describe your stack. Twenty minutes of context-setting before any real work happens.

Compass AI Co-Builder solves this. It knows your tool's stack from your IndieAIs listing and generates your CLAUDE.md context file plus session-specific prompts that arrive with your full project context already embedded.

Better Claude Code results. Less setup. More building.

Compass AI Beta is live — an AI co-founder that already knows your tool before your first message

We just launched Compass AI in beta inside IndieAIs.

Three AI modes: Co-Founder for strategy and brand, Co-Builder for architecture and code, General Advisor for open conversation at zero credits.

What makes it different: it loads your tool's listing data, traction numbers and competitive category before the conversation starts. No describing your product. No generic advice.

It also writes optimized prompts for Claude Code if you are building with Claude Code and wasting time on context re-entry every session this fixes that.

Week 2 update — Compass AI is live tomorrow, three AI modes shipped, here are the real numbers.

Quick week two update for anyone following the IndieAIs build.

The numbers: 1,500 visitors, up from 395 at launch 6,000 pageviews, up from 2,500 36 minutes 44 seconds average session, up from 23 minutes 4.07 pages per visit 58% bounce rate, holding steady

The session duration improvement is the signal I am most focused on. People are staying longer and going deeper. The catalog is richer, the community is more active and the platform has more to explore than it did on day one.

What shipped this week:

We scored 847 indie AI tool listings out of 100. The average score was 41. What keeps coming up.

Since building Compass AI into IndieAIs we have been running listing audits on tools across every category.

The average score is 41 out of 100.

The most common failures in order:

  1. Headlines that describe the tool instead of the benefit 78% of listings

  2. No screenshots showing the tool actually working 71% of listings

  3. Descriptions that are feature lists with no identified pain 69% of listings

  4. Wrong category creating wrong audience 34% of listings

  5. No differentiation from obvious alternatives stated 81% of listings

Compass AI — the AI co-founder that tells you what ChatGPT cannot because it already knows your tool

The problem with asking ChatGPT for product advice is not the model.

It is the context. ChatGPT does not know your tool. You describe it. The description is always incomplete. The advice is always generic.

Compass AI is built into IndieAIs and knows your tool listing before your first message. Your category, your stack, your pricing, your upvote count, your competitive landscape all loaded automatically.

The result is advice that could only apply to your specific tool. Not advice for any tool. Advice for yours.

I built an AI co-founder that already knows your tool before your first message

Most AI advisors make you describe your product before they can help you.

Compass AI already knows your tool before you type a single word.

It has your listing data, your category, your traction numbers and your competitive landscape loaded before the conversation starts.

Ask it to audit your listing it scores you out of 100 across five dimensions with specific fixes. Ask who your competitors are it names actual tools not categories. Ask for a repositioning it writes the complete headline and description ready to paste. Ask what to focus on this week it assesses your stage and gives you one specific priority. Ask about investor readiness it scores you out of 60 with specific gaps to address.

Day 6 build log — 14 features shipped today

Quick transparent build log from IndieAIs day 6.

Today was infrastructure and UX day. No big announcement just shipping the things that make the platform genuinely trustworthy and usable at scale.

4 days post-launch — our first real numbers

Promised to build in public so here are the real numbers four days after launching IndieAIs on Product Hunt.

395 visitors 2,500 pageviews 6.41 pages per visit 23 minutes 51 seconds average session duration 48% bounce rate

Build log — Notifications, Reports and Admin Dashboard all shipped today

Quick transparent update from the IndieAIs build log.

Today was a big infrastructure day the kind of shipping that isn't flashy but makes everything else work better.

Notifications 7 triggers now live

Build log update — Builder Bios and Achievement Badges are in development today

Quick transparent update from the IndieAIs build log.

We're heads down today on two features that are central to turning IndieAIs from a directory into a place where builders actually have an identity and a track record.

Achievement Badges

A badge system that lives on every builder and user profile. Not participation trophies real recognition for real behavior the community values.

Two days after launch — here's everything we've shipped and where we're taking this

When we launched on Product Hunt two days ago the response told us something we didn't fully anticipate.

Builders don't just want to be listed. They want to be connected, recognized, funded and found by the right people not just any people.

So we moved fast. Here's the full picture of what's live and what's coming.

Stop digging through VC-funded noise. Discover the Indie AI revolution. 🚀

Hi Product Hunt! I'm the founder of IndieAIs.

The "AI Boom" is incredible, but let's be honest: the signal-to-noise ratio is broken. Most directories are flooded with massive enterprise tools or "zombie" projects. Meanwhile, the most creative, scrappy, and useful agents are being built by solo devs and tiny teams right here in this community.

Question for the Community

Curious to hear from the community:

How do you currently discover new AI tools and AI agents?

Do you mostly rely on GitHub, Product Hunt, social media, or somewhere else?

What’s Coming Next

This is still an early version of the platform.

Some things planned next include:

  • better discovery filters

  • improved trending algorithms

  • more ways to highlight emerging AI tools

  • improved builder profiles

Feedback from the community will help shape the direction.

How Developers Can Use It

If you re building AI tools or agents, IndieAIs allows you to:

  • create a builder profile

  • publish your AI tool

  • add screenshots and descriptions

  • get visibility from users exploring new AI projects

The goal is to make it easier for independent developers to get early exposure and feedback.

Why This Platform Exists

One thing that really stood out to me while building IndieAIs was how fragmented AI discovery currently is.

You might see:

  • a project on GitHub

  • a demo posted on social media

  • a launch on Product Hunt

  • a discussion on a developer forum

But there isn t always a single place where you can explore independent AI tools and agents together.
