Has anyone measured whether ChatGPT/Perplexity recommend their product?

I tested 10 prompts like "best tool for X" in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Our product came up in 2 of 30 answers, and a competitor with less traffic showed up in 14.

Curious how others approach this:

  • Do you track AI mentions at all, or is it too early to matter?

  • Has anything you changed (docs, reviews, comparison pages) actually moved the needle?

  • Is "AI search visibility" a real channel yet, or mostly hype?

Who do you hire first after launch?

Building mostly solo so far and I'm starting to hit the point where I can't do everything. Support, small bug fixes, and posting about the product all eat into actual building time. My gut says get help with support first since that's the most repetitive, but I worry I'd lose touch with what users are actually struggling with. A part time developer feels like the obvious move too, but then I'd be managing instead of building. For those who went through this, what was your first hire or contractor and would you pick the same again?

AI fixed my syntax issue. It made a new one.

Coming from a -technical background AI coding tools have been a miracle. I do not get stuck, on missing semicolons or forget how to write a function anymore. I can just tell AI what I want in English.

I have hit a new wall: architecture. AI can write code instantly. Ai does not tap my shoulder and say, "Hey this database structure is going to collapse when you get 100 users." AI obediently builds the bad idea I asked for.

For the self-taught or non-technical builders out there how are you learning what to build now that AI has solved how to code?
