Travelling, Windsurfing and Building

About

Hi, I'm Lawrence. Interests are travelling, windsurfing and building intuitive, creative consumer facing webapps. My background as a Systems Engineer has taught me the intricacies of cloud compute (AWS, GCP), CI/CD (Jenkins, GHA), orchestration tools (kubernetes, Ansible, Puppet) and systems security from the ground up. In the advent of AI I spend much of my personal time building consumer facing apps that help solve mine and my friends real life problems such as a Visual Map focused AI travel planner helping me explore cities and towns I visit on my windsurfing travels or an AI driven events orchestration platform originally built for a friends wedding but doubles up as a helpful tool for SME's.

Launch tomorrow and you could get a YC interview

If you re still sitting on your launch, this is the push.

YC made a special exception for this community: one or more companies that launch tomorrow will get a YC interview and potentially funding. A YC partner will review every eligible launch.

Making AI travel plans visual

I m planning a world trip in a few months and wanted a simple way to map out my route and discover interesting experiences along the way.

I tried Google Maps (too map-focused), several travel planning apps (too clunky), and even spreadsheets (confusing and dull). None of them could easily show trip stops and activities on a map while also helping with discovery, planning, and sharing in one place.

I got tired of juggling ChatGPT and Google Maps while traveling, so I built an AI tour guide app.

Last November, my wife and I visited Prague - it was my first time there. I wanted to see all the must-visit spots and experience the classic highlights.

I opened ChatGPT and asked it to build an itinerary based on places near me. It worked surprisingly well, and I found myself constantly switching between ChatGPT and Google Maps throughout the trip.

But as the days went by, something felt inefficient. I kept scrolling through the itinerary, asking to rearrange stops, adjusting plans because it was raining or because we were tired, and double-checking opening hours and directions. ChatGPT was helpful - but it didn t feel seamless. I kept thinking: this should be much easier.
