Musician, web guy, indie app developer

About

The name Seanbelly was born in the early '90s while trying to find a username for my first email account. It was divinely revealed while listening to country blues. I spent a decade as a professional sound designer (games, cartoons, movies, commercials) before the beer ads and singing clowns drove me to the edge. I pivoted to graphic & web design, and founded Weblife Design. Since then I've spent my time working for government, public sector, and non-profit organizations, with a stint at Automattic along the way. When I'm not deep in code and pixels, I'm writing and playing guitar, and currently building an app that brings meditation principles into the practice room for musicians. The through-line across everything I do: find the work that has artistic or social integrity, and do that.

Woodshedding - This is a music app to help you practice and progress.

Woodshedding puts a practice timer, metronome, tuner, and audio recorder in one app. Set a 15-minute session, lock in your tempo, tune up, and record ideas before they disappear. Track your streaks, rate your sessions, and actually see yourself improving over time. The design is inspired by guitar hardware — dark, warm, and built to stay out of your way. Free to use, with a premium tier for advanced features. iOS only (for now).
