How did you get your first 10 paying customers: outbound, community, or something else?

I ve spent five years on the sales side of B2B, so I know how outbound works when there s a team, a brand and a budget behind it. What I don t know is how it works when it s just a founder with a half-finished product and no name yet.

The advice I keep running into is do things that don t scale and talk to every user. That s fine, but it doesn t tell me what people actually did on a Tuesday morning.

For those of you who ve landed your first customers:

-Where did the first 3 to 5 come from? A cold email, a DM, a community like this one, someone you already knew?

How are you handling pricing pages for tools with a "free forever" tier?

I m in the final stages of building a B2B SaaS tool, and I ve hit a wall with the pricing page.

I want to offer a generous free tier to drive adoption, but I m terrified of two things:

  1. Attracting users who will never convert to paid.

  2. Losing out on revenue from users who would have gladly paid from day one.

I ve been looking at how other startups handle this, and I see everything from "reverse trials" (where you get all Pro features for 14 days, then get downgraded) to strict usage caps.

Hi, I’m Shabir, a B2B sales guy spending his evenings reading launch pages

I ve worked in sales and marketing for a little over five years, mostly B2B. A big part of my job is figuring out why a lead who was excited last week suddenly goes quiet. More often than not, they liked the product and just couldn t explain it to their boss.

That s what pulled me to Product Hunt. Makers here have to explain what they built in one line, and the good ones do it better than most sales decks I ve seen. I joined a few days ago and so far I m mostly reading taglines and taking notes.

For those who ve launched: did you write your tagline first, or did it only click after talking to users?
