Should onboarding send emails, or is that just spam with good intentions?

I've built an email sequence for new signups. Five emails over two weeks. Tips, use cases, a nudge toward the paid plan, a check-in, and a "here's what you're missing."

It works, on paper. People who open the emails activate more, and activation correlates with retention, which is the whole game.

Does offering a free tier hurt activation rates for complex software?

We used to believe every SaaS needed a free tier, but hard to use apps usually lose free signups right at onboarding. Without built-in community templates or direct guidance most people drop off within minutes.

Switching to a short paid trial forces users to have skin in the game making them more likely to walk through setup examples and discover real value.

Moving an contractor on full-time, would you start local entity or use EOR?

We ve been working with a developer in Germany for a while and would now like to bring them onto the team full-time.

The problem is that we don t have a German entity, and keeping them as a contractor doesn t really feel right once they re basically working as a regular employee.

Our accountant suggested looking at an employer of record, and G-P is one of the options we re considering so we wouldn t need to set up a company in Germany just for one person.

Has anyone here actually hired someone this way?
