What tool do you use to track your dev team without going crazy?

I am doing both dev and PM work right now and finding the right tool is honestly a nightmare.

Most platforms feel incredibly bloated or require too much manual input from the developers. I just want something that gives me visibility without forcing the team to log every single minute of their day.

I am currently struggling to find a good middle ground between something too simple and something as complex as Jira.

What are you all using to track progress and performance?

How do you actually measure remote productivity without just tracking hours?

Hey everyone! I have been working as a developer and project manager for a while now, and this is a challenge I keep running into.

We have been doing remote work for years, yet many companies still measure productivity exactly how they did in an office. They look at the hours logged on a screen or how quickly someone replies to messages. But sitting in front of a computer for eight hours straight does not automatically mean you are doing great work.

Sometimes you solve a complex technical problem in two hours. Other days you spend the whole afternoon just organizing your tasks. The time spent online does not always match the actual value created.

I really think we need to shift the focus. Instead of counting minutes, we should look at the impact of the work and the general pulse of the team. Did we hit the milestone? Is the quality of the output high? Are people communicating well?

How do you spot bottlenecks without micromanaging your team? Sharing what I built

Hey everyone.

I wanted to share some thoughts and a project I am working on called ThePulseTracker.

Lately I have been doing both dev and PM work and it made me realize a big problem. When a team starts growing you completely lose visibility of where the time actually goes. You end up guessing if your best people are doing deep work or if they are just putting out fires and dealing with context switching.

I really hate micromanagement. Tracking every single minute of your employees is exhausting and ruins the culture. So I built a tool to solve this from a different angle.
