Jira is solid if used correctly. But it's quite heavy to configure and everything. In a small company it's not worth it. Even up to 100 people using it can help manage underperforming teams to align them better, but well rounded teams can easily skip it.

Slack is a solid option, but it's much more valuable if you use all their features. It's quite annoying for casual users, because there is too much clutter, and sometimes you can't find simple things. Should have a simplified version, or to be easily configurable to hide the majority of stuff.
