About

I started TruLata in 2017 as a marketing agency for service businesses, after a career in startups with two exits. We turned the agency into software: TruLata runs the website, search, ads, content and outbound, and shows every lead, where it came from and what it cost, on one screen.

Hi PH, I'm Trace. I ran a marketing agency for 9 years, then turned it into software

Hi Product Hunters, I'm Trace.

Since 2017 I've run a marketing agency for service businesses: roofers, HVAC shops, garage door companies. Every week looked the same. We ran search, ads, content and email for each client, then spent hours pulling reports so the owner could see what actually brought in jobs.

How do you decide what features should be free and what should be paid?

Free is whatever lets someone feel the value before they owe you anything. For us that's building a website. Paid starts when it goes live and starts working for them. If the free part doesn't produce an "oh, this is real" moment, it's just a cost.

How do you promote your product without sounding too salesy?

Ask a question you actually want answered. Nobody minds "what would you need to see before you trusted this?" People tune out "check out our amazing launch." The other thing that works: show the bad week too. Real numbers, including the ugly ones, read as honest.
