Trifecta Labs

Building apps for web, mobile & desktop

About

Trifecta Labs is a software studio building products across web, mobile, and desktop. Rather than focusing on a single app or platform, we're building a portfolio of tools designed to solve real, everyday problems — wherever people happen to be working: in the browser, on their phone, or on their computer. We believe good software shouldn't be locked to one platform. Our approach is to build each product with the same core principles — simplicity, speed, and genuine usefulness — and adapt it to fit naturally into whichever environment our users prefer. Trifecta Labs is an early-stage studio, and this page will grow as we ship. Each product we launch will live here, so you can follow our progress from the very first release onward. AppLanes: split tunneling for Mac, so you choose which apps use your VPN (launching Monday)

Hey everyone, I m launching AppLanes on Product Hunt on Monday.

The problem: On macOS, most VPNs are all-or-nothing. NordVPN, Mullvad, Proton and others offer split tunneling on Windows, but not on Mac. Connect, and everything tunnels, including the apps that break when they do.

What AppLanes does: It gives every app one of three lanes: VPN, Direct, or Block. It works alongside the VPN you already use (WireGuard, OpenVPN, Tailscale, your provider s app) and isn t a VPN itself.

  • Live activity monitor showing every connection and its verdict

  • Leak protection if the VPN drops

  • Menu bar control to flip an app between lanes

  • No account, no telemetry, no servers. Everything runs locally on your Mac.

What’s the one Mac app you wish could bypass your VPN?

Most VPNs on macOS are all-or-nothing. Connect, and everything tunnels, even the stuff that breaks (banking, Spotify, local network devices, game servers, work tools). NordVPN, Mullvad, Proton and others have split tunneling on Windows but not on Mac.

I m launching AppLanes on Monday, which lets you pick VPN / Direct / Block per app, on top of whatever VPN you already use. Before launch I d love to hear:

  1. Which app is the biggest pain when your VPN is on?

  2. Which app do you want to force through the VPN no matter what?

  3. Is there anything you d want to block entirely?

I ll reply to every answer, and I m happy to share early feedback in the thread.

AppLanes - Per-App VPN Routing for Mac - Give every Mac app its own VPN lane — instantly

AppLanes is a per-app VPN router for macOS. Instead of an all-or-nothing VPN toggle, assign each app to its own lane: - through your VPN - straight to the internet - blocked completely. Works with any VPN you already use — WireGuard, OpenVPN, or your provider's app. Includes leak protection, a live connection monitor, and full menu bar control. No account, no telemetry, no servers — it all runs locally on your Mac. First app of its kind on the Mac App Store.
