Does anybody else feel weary about "building in public" being a necessity nowadays?

Sharing progress is something I love. However, I am not a fan of the trend to share metrics on a daily basis and risk being considered shady if I didn t. I tried it for six weeks. Every day I would write posts about my revenue, follower numbers, and all the usual suspects. In the meantime, my actual building of the product was slowing down since I spent one hour a day writing about things that were not yet done.

Nothing terrible happened when I stopped. No loss in credibility and no customers who would blame me for being quiet.

How important is the landing page in your decision-making process?

What I realized is that I bounce off websites within about four seconds, and that's not enough time for me to actually learn anything about a product. Last month, I decided to spend some time trying out five tools whose websites looked horrible. Three of them were actually great. One is now paid by me.

What was common about those websites: the founder had obviously dedicated all their time to the product itself and not at all to the page. This could be a valid approach, and I had been penalizing them for it.
