Hi Product Hunt I'm Anton, the maker of TabVitals for desktop Chrome on Mac and Windows.
I work with lots of open tabs and use TabVitals to free RAM without closing them. It combines a heavy-tab scanner, manual tab sleep and Auto-suspend, plus tools for fixing one site's cached data, removing its history and opening the current page in Incognito.
One design choice I'd like to discuss: saving memory should fit the way people work. A background tab isn't always an unimportant tab.
TabVitals protects active, pinned and audio-playing tabs, and you can add important sites to Always Awake. Auto-suspend runs a scan and sleeps eligible tabs, then repeats every 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. Sleeping pages reload when you return, so unfinished work needs to stay awake.
The update I previewed is now in the Chrome Web Store. TabVitals 0.4.20 adds Auto-suspend for Chrome on Mac and Windows.
Turn it ON to scan and sleep eligible background tabs right away. It repeats every 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours, while active, pinned, and audio-playing tabs stay protected. Mark important sites Always Awake. Tabs remain open and reload when you return.
After each cycle, TabVitals shows the change in available system memory and how many tabs were slept. The manual X-Ray scanner is still there, along with one-site cache/cookie cleanup, Incognito, and history tools. Save unfinished work before sleeping tabs.

I m testing the next TabVitals update: Auto-suspend for Chrome.
The manual X-Ray scanner and tab-sleep controls are staying. The new option automates that workflow: switch ON to scan and sleep eligible background tabs immediately, then repeat every 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours.
Free up RAM without closing your tabs or remembering to run cleanup yourself. Keep active, pinned and audio-playing tabs protected, and mark important sites Always Awake. Sleeping tabs reload when you return. A clear result card shows the measured change in available memory after each cycle.
Chrome on Mac and Windows; diagnostics run locally. The existing cache/cookie tools, one-click Incognito and one-site history removal remain available.
