Make a no-code travel game for tourists
What did you dream of being as a child? In one recent poll, 20.9% of young respondents said they wanted to be either vloggers, influencers, or professional gamers (don’t worry, careers like Teacher and Scientist still took the top slots). For many, being a creator or influencer isn’t just about social media fame. It offers an opportunity to follow your passions, make money independently, and simply have fun at work.
That’s why we’re always on the lookout for platforms offering new opportunities to power the creator economy. Enter Questo, a web platform that lets you create and sell city exploration games for play on a mobile device.
What is it? Questo first launched its real-world city game app across 50+ countries in 2019. Tourists can discover a city while solving clues and hearing stories from locals. The idea for Quest arose from Booking.com’s Booster Lab which supports startups working on sustainable tourism.
Monetize your local knowledge. Since its launch, creators on Quest have powered its city quests and now Questo has opened up the opportunity with Questo Creator Room. The platform offers anyone a place to build a game in just a few days, without coding or costs. Questo says that it can offer distribution too, which is often the biggest challenge most creators have to overcome (i.e. can you get people to actually see and use what you create?)
“There is a strong community of Questo players asking for more games,” writes co-founder Alex Govoreanu. “And we have also built lasting relationships with online resellers such as TripAdvisor, Eventbrite, GetYourGuide, Fever.com, Booking.com, and many others.”
Questo is offering extra year-end perks to new creators from the Product Hunt community, so if you’re looking for a side hustle or to have fun at work, check it out.
