Bing is scaring Google

ICYMI Samsung is pondering whether or not to drop Google as its default search engine on smartphones in favor of Bing. This has Google somewhat worried, announcing they’re working on a new search engine powered by AI.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

Swap your face with your cat

Have you ever looked at a celebrity, a politician, or your dog and thought, "I wish I could be them, even for a minute”?

Well, a group of makers got together, watched Face/Off, and decided to make that a reality with Face Swapper.

Face Swapper is a newly launched iOS app that gives you the ability to digitally transform yourself. You can change your hairstyle, alter your body type, make yourself look more professional (hello LinkedIn headshots!), and most importantly: swap your face. It’s that part that is especially impressive.

High-def face transplant: Whilst not the same as surgically changing faces with someone else, the app does allow you to digitally stitch your face to anyone. It uses custom AI models that the makers trained on their own data sets, allowing the team to prioritize image quality.

Luba Zee, one of the app's makers, states it processes the image of your face in up to 1024px while preserving the quality and size of the original images. So, theoretically, you could print an endless amount of pictures of you as different celebrities and hang them on your walls to confuse your friends and family.

Face Swapper is the latest addition in a wave of AI launches that aims to highlight the fun nature of technology.

While it’s great to have apps that simplify our day-to-day lives by automating somewhat tedious tasks, it’s also nice to have fun. Here are a few more fun-forward AI apps to keep you entertained during the week:

  • Celebrity Voice Changer allows you to swap voices with your fave celebs instead of swapping faces.

  • drayk.it puts the power of Drake’s singing voice in the palm of your hand.

  • BeatBot composes short songs based on your text prompt.

So if you’ve ever wondered what it could be like to swap faces with your cat…
