One of the questions people have about AI is, “How safe is my job?” There’s been a ton of organizations publishing research on this, and now Open AI decided to do some. According to the company, AI could replace 19% of highly-educated, well-paid workers, with programming being particularly at risk.

Since the era of AI began, Microsoft has been one of the well-known companies to capitalize on its potential. A lead investor in Open AI, Microsoft dove head first into AI and began revamping its product line with AI functionality, such as its Bing search engine. 

The fun isn’t stopping for the company anytime soon, it seems. Today, Microsoft launched Microsoft Designer for Web. Originally launched 6 months ago behind a waitlist, this update opens access to everyone whilst improving on its technology.

• Users can generate one-of-a-kind images on the fly by typing in a prompt. 

• Images can be animated just by telling the AI to add “motion.” 

• You can generate captions and hashtags suited to your design by typing a goal like “increase engagement.” 

Designers are safe: While it has “designer” in the name, the tool isn’t meant to be a replacement for a full-fledged designer. It’s not outputting landing pages, jaw-dropping pitch decks, or 3D characters (yet). It’s marketed towards social media people and content creators to create assets on the fly. If anything, this could free up time for the designer in your life.
