“Startup employees are being given stock options without any way to fund the exercise cost or leverage their value prior to an exit event,” explains EquityBee co-founder and CEO, Oren Barzilai.

When Oren launched EquityBee with co-founders Oded Golan and Mody Radashkovich, they set out to help startup employees exercise their stock options by connecting them to investors who could provide the required capital.

Three years later and “thousands” of employee-investor matches later, they’re today launching Equity Value Finder: A tool to provide users with an estimated market value of their employee stock options.

With this product, Barzilai says they aim to “continue to target this broken system right at its core, by educating startup employees on the dollar market value of their equity, and helping them become shareholders in the companies they’ve worked so hard to build.”

For tech industry employees, understanding the exact and potential values of stock options can help with compensation negotiations and personal financial management. For employers, stock options can be an effective tool for attracting talent and aligning employees' interests with the company's stakeholders.
