Android users, rejoice!

It’s been two months since Open AI launched the ChatGPT iOS app to huge fanfare, getting over half a million downloads in the first week alone, impressing everyone (until Threads came along).Â
Since then, Android users have been left in the dark about when their time to shine comes. Well, not anymore. Open AI announced last week that the chatbot is now available to pre-order on Android.
The similarities: At first glance, it looks like the iOS and Android app will be fairly indistinguishable. Both apps retain most, if not all, of the web version's functionality, and it looks like you’ll be able to sync your conversations and preferences across all of your devices.Â
The differences: Where things change lies in the difference between the two operating systems. Things like the Siri and Shortcut additions won’t be making it over to Android, but there could be something similar added.Â
Patience is a virtue: On Twitter, Open AI announced that the Android app will be rolling out to users during the week, and if the iOS app is anything to go by, it’s likely it will be the US first, with more countries being steadily added as the weeks and months go on.Â
So if you’ve been waiting with bated breath to finally get your hands on some mobile GPT goodness, it’s time to…
