Happy Monday! Did you know there are only nine whole Mondays left until we bid adieu to 2023? How time flies!
Here’s the news:
- OpenAI is hosting its first-ever developer conference today. Any predictions?
- Kendrick Lamar just dropped a phone. It’s already sold out.
- We’re hosting a live event in San Francisco today. Join us!
Elon's new AI
A new challenger has entered the ring. The AI ring, that is. Since the end of 2022, we’ve witnessed a steady stream of new AI tools from the likes of OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Meta hit the scene. Now, X (formally Twitter) wants a slice of the pie.
Elon Musk announced Grok over the weekend, the company’s own competitor to the likes of ChatGPT and Bard. According to Musk, Grok has a more “rebellious” nature compared to others on the market, and it’s inspired by The Hitcherhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Where it could really shine is how it gathers data. Instead of being fed information up to a certain date, Grok uses X to inform its answers by trawling through user posts on the platform, which unsurprisingly leads to a more sarcastic response from our new AI friend.
Musk posted an example of this more sarcastic tone with a screengrab of a prompt asking Grok for step-by-step instructions for making a certain illicit drug. Included in its response were directions to obtain a “chemistry degree” and to set up a “clandestine laboratory in a remote location.” I mean, it’s not wrong?
If you’re wondering where the name comes from, Grok is a word coined by Robert A. Heinlein in his novel “Stranger in a Stranger Land.” It’s a Martian term with no direct earthling translation.
Grok is currently in its early testing phases, but it will be usable by all X Premium subscribers once it launches to the public.
When you do get a chance to try it out, don’t forget to ask what the meaning of life is. I have a hunch it might be 42.
Share agents, not your machine

CoChat connects your local OpenClaw to a shared workspace so your team can run agents together, review outputs side-by-side, and iterate in real time — no SSH access to your laptop required.
Bring every instance into one hub: local OpenClaw, KiloClaw, multiple machines. Same agents, shared context, zero stepping on toes. Don’t want it running on personal devices? Deploy managed, containerized OpenClaw instances with real access controls.
Claude, GPT, Gemini — switch models mid-conversation and compare outputs in one thread.

Product Hunt is ten! That’s right, ten whole years of watching and supporting makers in going from idea to launch. It’s been a wild ride, and it all started as a simple newsletter list.
We want to mark the moment, so join us in San Francisco to celebrate a decade of makers launching extraordinary products! Meet the Product Hunt team, hang out with some special people from PH's history, and connect with other cool people building cool things.
