Apple Notes on steroids

TOP NEWS

Happy Hump Day! In today’s digest, I’m covering a new way to quickly build a blog without writing a line of code. Spoiler: It uses Apple Notes. But first…

The headlines:

💰 Humane is looking for a buyer after the company’s underwhelming debut

🤖 Google has started rolling out new AI tools to Android and iOS for free.

🇨🇳 China has released its own AI chatbot based on its president, Xi Jinping.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT

This new app lets you turn your Apple Notes into a blogging machine

Apple Notes is one of the most underrated products Apple has released. The unassuming app that ships with every iPhone, Macbook, and iPad is used by millions worldwide for everything from grocery lists to entire productivity solutions, partly because of the Apple ecosystem and partly because of its simplicity.

But did you know you could build your next site using Apple Notes? Well, the blog aspect, at least. Quotion is the first launch from solo maker Qing Wang. It’s a site that turns your Apple Notes into a full-fledged blogging platform with SEO features to boot.

How does it work? It’s pretty simple. Once you sign up, you can set up a new publication with your subdomain. From there, you will be instructed to create a new Apple Notes folder and share it with “link@quotion.co.” After that, simply drop the generated share link into your Quotion dashboard, and voila — you can start blogging with Apple Notes.

Every time you start and finish a new note within your new blogging folder, it will automatically get published to your subdomain. From there, you can quickly change it to your liking by changing your branding, typography, layout, adding a custom domain, and even swapping out some CSS. It also comes with analytics to see how many people are peeping your notes.

Building sites and blogs has become markedly easier over the years, especially since the rise of AI. Wegic is another tool that lets you quickly whip up a site with no code needed. Instead, it lets you generate a site by interacting with an AI bot in a ChatGPT-style interface. You can prompt it to make almost any style site and continue editing after it’s generated.

SHOUTOUTS

Building the backend is one of the less sexy aspects of building a product. Supabase is an open-source alternative to Google’s Firebase backend solution. It’s become super popular with makers on Product Hunt, clinching the number five spot in the shoutouts leaderboard.

Here’s what the maker of today’s product highlight, Quotion, had to say: “The backend of Quotion is built with Supabase, including Postgres and Realtime. It saves me so much time to build a reliable and fast server.”
