In case you were hiking in the desert with no service, Apple revealed Apple Intelligence—a suite of interconnected AI features for summarization, text generation, and integration with ChatGPT.

The key selling point is the integration into the Apple ecosystem across iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch. But what if you don’t want to wait? I mean, Apple Intelligence won’t be available until at least this autumn unless you try the beta — which comes with its own risks.

That’s partly why Invisibility launched yesterday. Invisibility is a Mac app that lets you use GPT-4o, Claude 3 Opus, Gemini, and Llama 3 under one subscription. Unlike Apple Intelligence’s more background AI approach, Invisibility is a chatbot widget at the bottom of your Mac screen that you can open with Option + Space.

Once you boot it up, you can switch AI models like TV channels. Pick your preferred model, and it’s ready to go. You can immediately ask it anything on your screen—no screenshotting needed. It can see what you’re seeing. 

Let’s talk about the Elephant in the room: Why use Invisibility when Apple Intelligence is around the corner? According to tech journalist Connor Jewiss, there are two main reasons: Apple didn’t show coding abilities in its demo, something the Invisibility team has prioritized as a use case for their offering.

Secondly, Apple integrates only with ChatGPT Pro. Invisibility connects to all major AI models under one subscription, so you don’t have to juggle multiple subscriptions, arguably the biggest selling point. As AI grows and new and better models hit the market, swapping tabs and managing subscriptions can easily become a pain point for power users. 

Invisibility isn’t the only tool that lumps different models into one interface. ChattyUI launched last week, it’s a web-based platform that lets you chop and change between different open-source models like Mistral, Gemma, and Llama 3.
