It's OpenAI Day. Today: the Hasura founder who moved his team off Slack, a browser that checks out for you on a single-use card, and a dictation app someone built in a few days that never touches a cloud server.

PromptQL is a shared AI workspace where threads build context automatically as the team works. Ask what a colleague is blocked on, get an answer, no ping needed. Built by Tanmai Gopal (@tanmaig), who founded Hasura.

🔥 Our Take: Hasura built the data layer for thousands of developer teams by solving one specific problem: any service could get the context it needed without knowing where things lived. PromptQL is the same bet, one layer up. In February, Tanmai moved his 70-person team off Slack to test it, said things got "f***ing weird," and five months later they have not gone back. When the person who built the product won't use anything else, that usually means something.

Basement is a shopping browser: it learns what you like, tracks everything you own in a Closet, finds the best price, and checks out for you. Luis Perrone (@perronef5) has spent a decade building consumer products and says this is the one he couldn't stop thinking about.

🔥 Our Take: Every shopping tool online is actually working for the store, not for you. Browser extensions track your behavior to sell it. Price trackers surface deals but leave you to check out yourself. Basement flips it, and the part that makes it real is how checkout works: each purchase runs on a single-use card scoped to that one order, minted inside a budget you authorize with your passkey. Your real card never touches it. No purchase can go beyond the cap you set. That's the trust problem with agentic checkout, solved before you had to ask about it.

🔥 Our Take: Kuber saw a Hacker News benchmark last week: Apple's on-device SpeechAnalyzer is more accurate and three times faster than Whisper Small. That raised one question he couldn't let go of: why does every Mac dictation app still need a subscription and a cloud server? So he built this instead, in a few days. The whole category defaulted to cloud because on-device wasn't good enough. Now it is, and Kuber noticed before everyone else did.
