Audio sharing on Instagram! 😲🔊
⚓️, the emoji-named startup that came onto the scene in 2016 just introduced their biggest update yet. Anchor Videos is a new tool that magically transforms audio files to video, transcribing content into easy-to-follow (highly shareable) text you can listen to (on mute).🔑
Why this is needed: most major social platforms aren’t built for audio-consumption. Sharing a URL to an hour-long podcast on Facebook will rarely convert to direct listeners in the moment. On the other hand, autoplaying videos with mute-friendly captions are #killinit and an effective way to grab peoples’ attention.
Anchor's new tool lets you trim audio clips so you can share a 🔥 minute from an insightful podcast, transcribed with captions. Here’s an example. Pretty slick.✨

STUNNING new phone with no apps 😱
If smartphones were required to come with warning labels, what disclosures would they have? 🤔
• Highly addictive
• May contain habit forming apps
• Do not operate at the dinner table or while driving
• Low battery life can cause undue stress
• In the event of sudden loss of power please stay calm
And yet, even with all the side effects, it would be unthinkable to leave the house without them. The Light Phone will help you find a balance.
Just like how we choose what to wear, or which tools to use depending on the situation, this is a casual phone for ‘going light’ while enjoying the present and the people you're around.
It makes and receives calls using your existing phone number, and nothing else.

Elon Musk’s Master Plan REVEALED 🚙⚡️
On Friday at the Model 3 handover event, Elon Musk quietly delivered on the final step of his Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan, which was published on August 2, 2006 – exactly 11 years ago today.
In one of the all-time great entrepreneurial endeavors, Musk summarized his master plan in 3 simple steps:
1. Build sports car
2. Use that money to build an affordable car
3. Use that money to build an even more affordable car
While doing above, also provide zero emission electric power generation options
Don't tell anyone.
The Roadster, a low-volume sports car designed to appeal to the ultra wealthy, had production delays and nearly bankrupted the company in 2008 (in what Musk calls "his worst year ever"). And yet, it funded the development of what Consumer Reports called "the best car ever made."
Meanwhile, Tesla has created a worldwide supercharger network, built a Gigafactory, introduced new products like the Powerwall and Solar Roof, and acquired SolarCity (which was named in the 2006 master plan).
In 2014, when announcing that anyone can use Tesla's patents (in good faith), Musk stated the company's mission: "Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport."
The Model S showed the world the potential of all-electric. The Model 3 is the mass-market car that Elon Musk has always wanted to create, inspiring automakers to follow Tesla's lead in the space. 11 years on, and Musk's vision of a zero emission future is coming together. ☀️⚡️
-------
In 2016 Elon Musk became a 2x Golden Kitty Award Winner. He proudly tweeted: “Was wondering what those were” in his acceptance.
With The Boring Company and Neuralink being two of the most upvoted products of 2017 to date, Musk could become the only back to back Golden Kitty winner who has not done a LIVE Chat with the community, yet.

Amazon, reddit, and YouTube 10 years ago 👀
Over the weekend a fun new website came out that lets you see what was happening on the internet exactly 10 years ago.
So much has changed since August 1st, 2007. Thousands were lining up to buy the first iPhone, George W. Bush was in the White House, YouTube's front page was promoting Superbad, Amazon was selling books, and IMDb was hiring their first designer.
Meanwhile, sites like Hacker News and reddit[1] haven't changed much.
See what was happening on the internet 10 years ago today.
[1] Get ready to see some big changes at reddit. Yesterday Recode reported that the internet's homepage will use its new $200M in funding to go on a hiring spree and redesign the website.

Pitch Decks From Top Startups 🤑
Creating a pitch deck is not an easy task. If you’ve never done it before and you’re a first-time founder, it can be incredibly daunting. That is why Sathyvelu started collecting decks on his GDrive, and recently launched Pitch Decks From Top Startups.
The site aggregates real decks that companies like Airbnb, LinkedIn, YouTube, WeWork, Square, Tinder, Buffer, and many others used in their funding rounds. Collectively, these startups have raised over $700M. This is a fantastic (and entertaining) resource to bookmark, updated every week. 🙌
P.S. It’s never too early to define your company culture. Here’s a collection Culture Decks to get inspiration from. Netflix’s culture deck should be required reading for anyone in tech.

NOT A JOKE: BuzzFeed launches a smart kitchen appliance
30 minutes ago, BuzzFeed launched its most surprising product to date in partnership with GE Appliances: A smart kitchen cooker.
In true BuzzFeed fashion, the Tasty One Top is a social cooking device, connected to your iPhone so you can cook and share more than 1,700 recipes. Brilliant.
BuzzFeed has developed a number of silly, cheesy, viral, and somewhat controversial products. The One Top is arguably its most #innovative and useful product to date. The video says it all (warning: don’t watch if you’re hungry 😛).
