Microsoft’s new app for the blind 👀
Microsoft’s new app makes the visual world accessible to the blind. The app is a talking camera that uses AI to identify people and things around you, described in audio. It can:
- Recognize peoples’ facial expressions
- Read nutritional facts
- Identify a $20 bill
- Voice-dictate your Twitter timeline
Watch the video. It’s impressive. 👏
The app, creatively named, Seeing AI, is reminiscent of one of the most popular hunts from 2015: Be My Eyes, an app to “lend” your eyes to the blind. For those fortunate to have unimpaired sight, visit this site for your daily dose of empathy.

PSA: Spotify’s new site might embarrass you 😜
Stockholm-based Spotify has been viewed as the underdog in the music-streaming industry, competing for ears alongside Google, Amazon, Apple, and TIDAL but it’s arguably the most innovative as evidenced by its latest data-driven project, Spotify.me.
Now can you review and share your (most embarrassing) music preferences and vices. Spotify knows:
😍 Your favorite artist
🕓 What time of day you’re head bobbing
💃 Even the average BPM of the music you listen to
Get your Spotify.me and browse hundreds of other Spotify-powered apps, including a spiritual successor to turntable.fm and a “Tinder for songs”.

Sorry about the tabs 😕
On Friday we took the unprecedented step of linking to every single top product for every day of the month. We tried to link responsibly – the subject line of the newsletter read: "Warning: Lots of cool products" – but it wasn't enough.
An onslaught of too many tabs horror stories proceeded. Browsers were crashing. We tried to push the limits of interesting products, and we're sorry for that.
Fortunately, we found the cure to tab hoarding. You should also clear your browsing data periodically and consider spreading the open-tab load between Chrome, and multiple Rad Browsers. 🌐✌️

Best. Landing. Page. Ever. (Part 2)
In May we wrote about an app called Peek, calling it "the best landing page ever," which we stand by at the time, but clearly we spoke too soon.
Twitter reactions to a new app called Muzzle:
Kate: "Brilliant demonstration, and genius app. I've been needing this thing, even if my notifications aren't QUITE as embarrassing."
Ben: "Best landing page everrrr"
Andreas: "Best. Landing. Page. Ever."
Ryan: "Best landing page demo I’ve seen this year"
Muzzle silences embarrassing notifications while screensharing. You can download it here and save yourself from future face-palms in front of your coworkers.

The real game-changer in iOS11 👀🚀
The iPhone 8 will be great, but iOS 11 is going to blow your mind. 😳
iOS 11 introduces a customizable control panel, screen recording, playable GIFs in Photos, and iCloud versions of Venmo and Dropbox. But the real game-changer is ARKit.
Developers have been playing with it for a few weeks since its debut at WWDC and we’re starting to see practical use cases (like an AR measuring tape, upvoted by more than 1,400 people) to Elon Musk-level “sci-fi” (like a SpaceX rocket landing in someone's backyard).
You can see all these videos on Made With ARKit, and we recommend you follow the @MadeWithARKit Twitter account. 🔥🔥
Here’s what you need to know: ARKit lets developers make apps that blend virtual objects with your environment. As the first demo apps show, the technology is powerful and will be an accelerant toward our AR and mixed reality future.
iOS 11 drops to the public in September. We asked Robert Scoble for his thoughts. He said: “195 million users in September is why ARKit matters.” In a few months, Apple will have the biggest AR platform on Day 1.

Best Startup Books 📚🦄
The 7 best startup books tweet turned into 20+ recommendations. By the end of this email your Summer reading list will be all taken care of.
Peter Thiel's Zero to One is the most recommended startup book by the community. It's an interesting read even for those that aren't into startups, and it really makes you think about what it takes for innovation to occur and how it happens.
The 2nd most recommended book will teach you how to run a lean startup, while the 3rd most recommended book by Nir Eyal (and a contributing writer) breaks down how to build habit-forming products.
Other great books on the list include: Founders at Work by Jessica Livingston, Intercom's new book about growing a startup, and it's about time the (just hunted) Venture Hacks Bible was on Product Hunt. ✌️
