Alexa conquered CES this year. Amazon's operating system for the home will be in appliances, adorable robots, and even cars in 2017. Voice may be the dominate way we interact with our devices over the coming years, and Amazon is leading (and actively taking an open approach to grow the ecosystem).

In other news, the cars of the future will be lit (literally). Faraday Future showed off the fastest electric car in the world, while Toyota may have watched one-too many Sci-Fi movies.

Other than Alexa, the biggest trend at CES has to be smart everything. A smart trashcan, stove, hairbrush, toothbrush, men's underwear, energy monitor are just a few.

High-tech undies that protect men's privates 🍒
CES continues as companies show off their latest AI-powered doodads in Las Vegas. Yesterday, we were introduced to a smart toothbrush that turns brushing into a game, LG’s talkative fridge, and a slightly creepy robot for your kids.

But what’s most important is health. Thankfully, this French startup is here to protect man’s gentles with Spartan Underwear, high-tech undies that keep your manhood safe from cell phone radiation (FINALLY!). 🍒
NEW app from Netflix (isn't a joke) 🚀
With CES underway, we're getting a preview of the future, a world where trashcans are smart and cars accelerate 0 to 60mph in 2.39 seconds.

Meanwhile, Netflix quietly launched a new app to bring films into your home, physically. Using innovative technology that people are wondering, "Is this a joke?" Check it out.

How to avoid surge pricing on New Year's Eve! 🎉
The last day of 2016 is near. If you already know your New Year's resolution and want to be extra productive, pick up one of Scribd's 12 Books to Help You Keep Your New Year’s Resolution here.

For the rest of us, strategically planning a way to survive New Year's Eve surge pricing may take precedence, and we're here to help.

Cut the Surge helps you save money by taking an Uber at the right place at the right time. If that doesn't work, Surge Protector will help you call an Uber to the nearest location without surge pricing.

From the entire Product Hunt Team, we wish you a happy new year! 🎉
RIP 2016 📱😪
Sadly, we lost a lot of wonderful and talented people this year - Prince, David Bowie, Mohammad Ali, Carrier Fisher, George Michael. We are thankful for all they contributed to the world.

Much like the cycle of life, apps also have a lifecycle - so we wanted to pay our respect to some of the apps that we said good-bye to in 2016 and thank the teams that introduced them into the world:

• Mailbox and Sunrise, you will NEVER be forgotten
Meerkat, your spirit lives on 🏠🎉
• Stolen and Famous, in your 15 minutes you lived a lifetime
Facebook Paper and Notify, we wish we knew you better
• Tay, your sister Zo has a lot to live up to
• Washio the City needs you please come back

ThinkUp, Talkshow, SummizeBlabParse!! 2016 has not been kind. Apps can be replaced, MagSafe alternatives can be found, but we will never ever get over your loss; rest in peace 3.5mm Headphone Jack.
