Our ultra-fast Daily: Three takes on new products. Yesterday’s top ten launches. That’s it.

Dose of nostalgia

Happy Friday, Makers. What’s better than new tech? Nostalgic tech. Check out this USB hub inspired by a retro Macintosh. It even has a usable screen.

Uncanny valley...

Everyone knew it was coming, right? The US Open worked with IBM to develop AI commentators for some of its off-the-air matches. It’s surprisingly realistic; some would say it’s uncanny (we’re the “some”).

Currently listening to…
The Severance theme song, ICYWW. We’re always excited to come to work and see what’s launching, but maybe that’s our Innies talking.

In today's newsletter:

BACK TO REALITY

Happy Tuesday, makers! It’s back to school day in many places across the US, and the unofficial end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. What are your goals for this month? Let’s keep each other accountable: Share your plans with the Product Hunt community.

EVERYWHERE YOU GO… 🎶

Good morning to everyone except the weatherman. While those in Western Europe brace for heatwaves, it’s pouring in Spain and Portugal — and torrential rain in the Nevada desert has left around 70,000 Burning Man attendees stranded in the mud. Maybe the tech elite in attendance should use this as a field test for their new ‘California Forever’ utopia and add stormwater drainage to wildfire protection plans.

In today’s Digest:

Take me home country roads

Happy Friday, makers! Today is our last day in Portugal. We’re soaking up as much of those rays as possible before the long journey home. Here’s a blast from the past: Remember Limewire and the viruses that went with it? You really had to be there

SPOT THE AI

Happy Thursday, makers! This edition of the daily digest is coming to you from an island in the sun. With the rise of AI comes the possibility of disinformation. That’s why Google is testing a watermark to identify generated images. It’s apparently imperceivable to the human eye, but we consider that a challenge.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Logos are an important part of conveying any company’s identity. Some of the most well known companies started out with wildly different logos, including Apple’s whiskey label-esque first iteration. What are some of your favorite old logos? Show us in this thread. 👀

OLA

Greetings from Portugal, makers! As you may have read in yesterday’s Digest, the Product Hunt team has travelled from all corners of the globe to Ericeira for our annual offsite this week. This newsletter is coming to you off the back of a team-building surf lesson, and our arms hurt. Enjoy!

Remote gone IRL
The Product Hunt team is connecting together in person this week (Did you know we are a remote, global company?) We’ll be taking a break from our AI and Product newsletters this week, but we’ll see you back on the interweb in September!
