Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Akanksha, one of the founders of Backdrop.

When we first launched Backdrop, we built specialized AI coworkers for product and operations. Those agents still exist, and you can still hire one in minutes.

But we kept seeing the same problems show up in other parts of the business too. AI was still living in isolated chats, people were repeatedly explaining the same context, and building useful agents meant a lot of setup and maintenance.

So we expanded Backdrop.

You can now create your own AI coworker for almost any workflow, or build a team of agents for different parts of the business. We added a skills library, made it easy to create or upload your own skills, and built a way to teach an agent a workflow just by showing it a recording.

We also expanded integrations a lot. Agents can now work across Slack, Google, HubSpot, Asana, Meta, TikTok, and 1,500+ other tools, so they can actually do the work across the systems your team already uses.

And because agents are doing more than answering questions, you still need control over what they can access and what they can do. Backdrop includes permissions, approvals, shared company context, and a full audit history so you can see what an agent did, why, and how it got there.

You can build one agent for the thing you need most, or a whole team for different workflows across the company.

Would love to hear what you think :)

How do the AI agents handoff work to each other and know when to pick up?

One agent hands another a task when that work belongs to them. It shows up on their queue, so they know to pick it up. If it's a question or a review, they message each other. You choose which agents can work together, and the handoff stays on the task so you can see what was passed over.

I am excited about the ability to specialize the AI co-workers. Each co-worker will be given a persona and have their own work to take off my todo list!

 Thanks Ali!

Hey everyone, I'm Caitlin, one of the other founders of Backdrop.

When we first launched, my focus was making our product and ops agents compound instead of reset. We've been building toward this update ever since, and I'm excited it's finally out.

The agents can do a lot more now. You can create one for almost any workflow, teach it the steps by showing a recording, add or upload skills, and connect it to the tools your team already uses. One for the job you care about, or a few of them across the company.

The engineering problem got bigger with that. More capability only works if it doesn't turn into a black box, so a lot of the build was permissions, approvals, and a record of what an agent did and how it got there.

Here to answer questions, and I appreciate the support!

Teaching a workflow from a recording caught my attention. Being able to show the actual steps seems like a useful starting point when the process is hard to describe in a prompt.

Thank you that was a big reason we built it. A lot of the work people want an agent to take on is easy to show and annoying to write out. Recording the steps gives it a real starting point instead of a prompt that only captures part of the process. If you have a workflow like that, I'd love to hear what it is.

When you teach Backdrop a workflow from a recording, can you edit a single step later without re-recording the whole thing? Curious how it handles a UI change in the middle of a saved flow.

Hi Neeraj! Great question. Yes, you can always view and edit your skills from the dashboard or ask your coworker to update the skill.

Thanks so much, Caitlin! It's great that a single skill can be edited from the dashboard instead of recording the whole workflow again, and being able to just ask the coworker to update it is a nice touch too. Good luck with the rest of the launch :)
