Hi Product Hunt!
We built Buddy Drop to make getting your project online as simple as possible.
Just drop your folder, ZIP, or files, choose a free domain or connect your own, and Buddy takes care of the rest.
It works for simple static sites as well as dynamic apps built with frameworks like Next.js, Nuxt, Astro, Remix, TanStack, Express or Lovable.
You can update your project just as easily by dropping new files. And as it grows, you can add backends, databases, background jobs, monitoring, and more.
We’re also running a Buddy Drop launch contest with $1,000 in Buddy credits up for grabs. Build something interesting, publish it with Drop, and share it on X to enter. Go to our launch page for the details: https://buddy.works/drop/contest
We’d love to hear what you think and what you’re building with it. Give it a try!
We built this to make sharing what you create as frictionless as possible.
You get a clean domain for your project, and out of the box we set up a Git repo, a CI/CD pipeline, and Visual Tests - so you're not just publishing a one-off build, you already have a proper delivery workflow behind it.
The Git repo + delivery pipeline also means the project can naturally grow beyond the first drop: keep iterating on it, bring your team in, review changes, test them, and keep shipping.
Really excited to see what you've been building. Can't wait for your drops!
Looks really handy for quick prototypes and testing ideas.
Sometimes you just want to put something online fast, without setting up a whole project around it. I think I saw on X there’s some contest going on too? Can’t find it now
@mjakobsche Yep! We’re giving away $1,000 in Buddy credits for projects built with Buddy Drop. You can find the details and enter here: https://buddy.works/drop/contest
Really proud of the team on this one. Honestly my favorite part is that it's not just "upload and done". You drop your files and you already get a git repo, CI/CD and previews behind it, so if the project takes off you don't have to redo everything. Go drop something and tell us how it went!
Really simple idea but super useful.
Just drop the files and you have a live link a few seconds later.
Been looking for something like this
Does this work with AI agents too, or is it more for manual uploads?
@bartshoot Yes, AI agents can use Buddy Drop too. We provide a ready-to-copy instruction you can give your agent to deploy the project for you.
@bartshoot just paste this instruction as your prompt:
Fetch https://buddy.works/drop/llms.txt and follow it to deploy my site with Buddy Drop. When you are done, give me the live URL and the claim URL
Congrats on the launch guys! Does dropping new files overwrite the live site or make a preview first? +1 to no signup...
@henry_habib Dropping new files creates a new Drop at a different address, since the previous address is still occupied by the original Drop. If you want to keep working on the same site, it’s best to claim your workspace in Buddy. You can then edit the files directly in the UI through the Git repository.
Every weekend project dies in the same spot: it's done, but there's nowhere to show it, because hosting is a "deal with it on Monday" thing. Drop takes Monday out of the equation.
Curious how many abandoned side projects will finally see daylight because of this, especially with the $1k contest as extra motivation.
No signup plus free subdomains is the combination phishing pages go looking for. What happens when someone drops a fake bank login? On a free tier of my own the per-IP rate limits I tried let bursts straight through, so I'm curious what's doing the work here.
@dalemooney Very good point. We spent quite a bit of time thinking about how to handle this safely. There are a few layers to it:
1. Automated decision models detect this kind of behavior and block it.
2. Without an account, a site is only live for one hour.
We also have mechanisms for taking suspicious sites down, with manual review in place.
@sztwiorok The one hour limit probably does most of the work, since a phishing run needs the link alive long enough to send round. Does the hour start again if someone drops the same files a second time?
@dalemooney Yes, currently that’s how it works. Once the domain expires, it goes back into the pool, so someone can deploy the same files again under that domain.
drop-and-deploy is a crowded corner (netlify drop, vercel) but "free domain forever" is the hook. what's the catch on storage - do idle sites get archived after a while, or does it genuinely sit there untouched even if nobody visits again?
@galdayan it sits untouched if you claim it. Unclaimed drops vanish in an hour.
@sztwiorok good tradeoff, that answers it. 1 hour is tight enough to not pile up abandoned storage but still gives real visitors a fair shot at claiming it.
