Hey Product Hunt! I'm Ashton, the solo dev behind Canopy. I built this because I had a problem every Plex parent knows: you've spent years curating a great media library, but there's no safe way to hand it to your kids. My options were either hovering over their shoulder the whole time or accepting they'd eventually find something they shouldn't. Plex has managed users and content ratings, but the app itself isn't designed for a 4-year-old. The UI is complex, there's no screen time controls, and one wrong tap sends them somewhere you don't want. So I built the app I wanted. A simple, beautiful Plex client that only shows what I've approved, locks everything else behind a PIN, and has built-in screen time limits so I don't have to be the bad guy when it's time to stop watching. The process evolved a lot. I started with just "filter content by rating" and quickly realized parents need much more — offline downloads for road trips, continue watching so kids don't lose their place, favorites so they can build their own little library within your library. Every feature came from a real moment of "I wish this existed." I'm shipping this as a one-time $4.99 purchase — no subscriptions, no ads, no tracking. I have an Apple TV app and cross-device iCloud sync in App Store review right now, and they'll drop as a free update soon. Would love to hear from other Plex parents. What would make this more useful for your family?
