Captist

What’s the one feature missing in your current screen recorder?

by

Hey Product Hunters! 👋

We’ve all been there: you need to record a quick product demo or a tutorial, but the output looks... well, a bit "meh."

Most screen recorders fall into two categories:

  1. Too Simple: You get a flat video that’s hard to follow unless you’re a pro at manual editing.

  2. Too Complex: Professional tools that require a steep learning curve and heavy installation.

I’m currently building Captist, a browser-based recorder designed to bridge this gap with Automatic Zoom and Cinematic Effects. But before we officially hit the "Launch" button, I want to hear from the experts—you!

If you could wave a magic wand, what one feature would you add to your current screen recording workflow to make it perfect?

Is it:

  • Better focus on where the mouse clicks?

  • Instant background removal or professional frames?

  • Automated captions that actually look good?

  • Or maybe just a way to record high-quality demos without making your laptop fans sound like a jet engine? ✈️

I’m all ears! Your feedback will directly influence our roadmap for the next few weeks.

P.S. For everyone sharing their "dream feature" below, I’d love to give you early access to Captist to see if we've already checked that box for you! 🚀
