FileShot 2.0 - Zero-knowledge file sharing. 50GB free. No signup required.

by
FileShot has grown significantly since our first launch in November 2025. Free tier now supports files up to 50GB (was 10GB). Added a full privacy toolkit: PDF editor, file converter, metadata scrubber, virus scanner, encrypted chat rooms, archive builder, and secure paste. Launched desktop apps for Windows/Mac/Linux, an Android app, and a Chrome extension. Zero-knowledge encryption is unchanged — encrypts in your browser before upload, key never touches the server.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm the maker of FileShot. Happy to answer any questions here.

The thing that makes FileShot different isn't just the features — it's the architecture. Every file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it ever leaves your browser. The encryption key lives only in the URL fragment (the part after #), which browsers never send to servers. So we genuinely can't read your files, even if we wanted to.

Since our first launch in November, we've grown a lot:

- Free tier expanded to 50GB per file (was 10GB)

- Built a full privacy toolkit: PDF editor, metadata scrubber, virus scanner, file converter, archive builder, and a zero-knowledge Secure Paste for text

- Launched a desktop app (Windows/Mac/Linux), Android app, and Chrome extension

- Added WebRTC P2P mode for transfers that never touch our servers at all

- Introduced paid plans ($1–$9/mo) for custom inboxes, API access, and file monetization

The free tier remains completely unlimited — no file count caps, no account required, 180-day auto-expiry.

Would love to hear what you all think, and happy to go deep on the crypto implementation if anyone's curious.
