The FLUX family from Black Forest Labs is definitely in the top tier of commercial-grade image models.
FLUX.2 adds native multi-reference support (up to 10 images) and 4MP resolution. This is extremely useful for production workflows.
I've been doing side-by-side comparisons with Nano Banana Pro inside @LTX Studio. It shows image editing consistency that rivals Nano Banana Pro, and if your priority is strict photorealism, especially that cinematic lighting style, FLUX.2 wins out.
Professional AI video starts with keyframes, so the initial image matters. FLUX.2 gives you a strong starting point for high-end storyboards.
Good to see BFL keeping the open core promise with the open-weight Dev model too.
