Anyone still running the real numbers in a spreadsheet, and does it actually work?

I ask because I did, for years, across three different businesses. Not because I did not know better, but because every tool I tried either showed me too much or assumed my business looked like a template. The spreadsheet was slow and manual, but at least I trusted what it told me, because I built every formula myself and knew exactly where the numbers came from. I am curious whether people who have actually moved off spreadsheets trust the replacement, or whether they just got tired of updating rows by hand and quietly traded one problem for another.
