Does having dozens of logo options actually make deciding harder?

by

When building tools or exploring concepts for early-stage startups, I notice a lot of services focus on generating as many variations as possible.

But personally, seeing 50+ rough concepts usually just creates decision fatigue. It feels like getting 3 well-thought-out visual directions with a complete asset system ready to go would be way more useful.

How do you prefer to handle branding when starting something new? Rapid brainstorming across dozens of drafts, or locking in a cohesive direction early?
