Does lower pricing actually help early-stage SaaS, or is it a trap?

by•

When launching our early version, we thought pricing low would lower the barrier to entry and boost signups. While it brought a quick surge in users, lower-paying users submitted 3x more support tickets and churned much faster.

When we doubled our prices, free-trial conversions dropped slightly, but active retention skyrocketed. Higher-paying customers actually invested time to integrate the tool deeply into their tech stack.

Is underpricing the biggest mistake first-time founders make, or is it a necessary stepping stone to gain initial traction?
