How Did You Get Your First 50 Users?

by•

I built a couple of web-apps that barely have or have none users, and because of that I'm really stuck right now. I can't get any feedbacks on how the web-app is or how could I improve it. Could someone share a working advice?

Try sharing it with a few people in your target audience and ask them what they think before making more changes

Pick one app and one specific task it solves

Ask a few people who already do that task to try it while you watch and note where they stop. Whether they come back for the next task tells you more than asking if they like it

Patience lol. But no really a lot of community building before and after helps a lot because you already have people excited or anticipating to use your product. Building up your audience of people who are already bought in makes the transition so much easier and then of course your list of loyal users are the best referral system you can find.

I'm in a similar spot in English right now, so I can only tell you what's working so far. On my newest SaaS, a lot of the signups came through ChatGPT. People ask it for a tool and it points them to mine.

In Japan, search has always been my first channel, then AppSumo and Product Hunt. And when a friend launches something, I tell them to send out a press release and post on Indie Hackers.
