Semrush reads 0 AI Overview citations for my site. Google shows my page as a source.

Semrush has reported 0 Google AI Overview citations for my site on 34 readings, and none of them has ever been above zero. On 1 November I searched "agent assist software what helps support reps" by hand and my page was the first source card in the Overview, above LinkedIn and Google Cloud. It was still first on 2 and 3 November.

I nearly got this wrong the other way. On 31 October I logged a citation that turned out to be my page sitting as the first organic result under the Overview. The sources panel never listed it. So now I expand "Show all" and read the panel on every check, and I run two control queries beside it. Both controls have come back negative four checks in a row, which is why I believe the three hits.

It is still one page. I checked two other pages today and got 0 of 2, and two more queries produced no Overview at all. So this is one citation on one query, and I would not call it a trend.

My guess is that Semrush only counts the queries it tracks, and a long question like that one may not be in its set. I have not proved that. What I changed is how I read the number: a zero now means zero on whatever it sampled, and every citation claim gets a date beside it.

Has a third party dashboard ever told you zero on something you then found by hand?

Yes. Links I post in answers on a Q&A site show zero referrals in GA4, but that zero doesn't mean nobody clicked. The site adds noreferrer, so those visits can't show up as referrals at all and land as direct. So now a zero just tells me where the tool couldn't look, and I read the site's own stats instead.
