Should governments control what you post on social media, or should that be left to the platforms?

Freedom of speech should be a given.

Except it isn’t.

I understand that platforms have their own community guidelines and want to maintain certain standards of conduct.

• But some countries block access to social media platforms entirely.

• Others check your social media activity before allowing you to enter the country, and so on.

To what extent should our freedom of speech be limited?

I’m asking this partly because of X’s latest update: the platform will now tell users when their posts or accounts have been downranked or withheld because of government or legal requests.
