The customer interview question that gave us the most useful answers

by•

For a long time, we asked people what features they wanted.

The responses were predictable:
More integrations.
More dashboards.
More automation.

Then we changed one question:

"What's the last task at work that made you think, 'There has to be a better way'?"

The conversation completely changed.

People stopped talking about features and started talking about repetitive work, broken handoffs, and information they couldn't trust.

It reminded me that customers rarely describe solutions. They describe frustrations.

That single change has made our product conversations far more valuable.

What's one question you've asked users that consistently leads to better insights?
