The Project I Finished and Immediately Forgot
by•
I shipped something last month. Worked on it for weeks. Launched it. Felt the relief of being done.
And then I completely forgot about it. Not on purpose. It just stopped occupying space in my head. Someone asked about it a few days later and I had to remember what they were talking about.
That's the strange thing about finishing something. The thing that consumed you disappears. The space it took up empties out. And sometimes there's nothing on the other side except the quiet.
I'm not complaining. It's a good kind of quiet. But I didn't expect finishing to feel so much like forgetting.
Does finishing things leave you feeling accomplished or just empty? And does that change depending on what it was?
