I’m curious what Product Hunt launch results looked like in real terms for people here.
Not just upvotes or comments, but actual outcomes like:
site visits
signups
activated users
paid conversions
retention after the spike
If you’re open to sharing, it would be interesting to know:
what you launched
roughly how much traffic Product Hunt sent
what that turned into
whether the users were actually good long-term users
whether you’d do it again
Even rough numbers or ranges would be interesting.

But in reality, it would be great if there were a site that showed how much traffic top-ranked products (like #1 on Product Hunt) actually gained—and how much it dropped afterward. It would really help with marketing decisions. Of course, I know that kind of data is usually private, but I’m still curious.

@kaihairan The traffic from my last launch was around 1,500 unique visitors, and I found that it resulted in roughly 120 signups within the first 48 hours.

@kaihairan@lakeesha_weatherwax Sharing these numbers is helpful because I realized that while the upvotes were high, the long-term retention was much lower than I expected.

my experience showed a high initial spike in site visits, but I noticed that only about 5% of those users actually converted into paid plans.
I think it generally depends on product maturity, call to action, and many other things.
A friend of mine was launching in September, and although he didn't gain much in revenue, he got plenty of unique visitors, sign-ups, and the most important part is that it drove a long-term SEO effect.
So he saw the visits and the Product Hunt launch consequences long after the launch itself.
As we are launching our product tomorrow, I hope it will go well. One of our biggest assumptions is that it will work for SEO and general awareness about us.
P.S. I finally decided to launch, as this friend said: "I will definitely do a Product Hunt launch one more time. Even though it's time-consuming and I haven't seen exact returns in revenue, it's definitely worth it."

Honestly for me, I wasn't expecting much and there wasn't much in terms of statistical increases either, but what I did gain was experience. I believe the first time of doing anything lays the foundation for a learning curve, whether that's a Product Hunt launch, marketing an idea or even building something new, and the experience gained from launch day, going through all the steps etc definitley helped prepare me for future launches.

The most useful way to look at PH for me is not as a pure conversion channel but as a visibility spike that only matters if the product is ready to capture intent. Traffic is easy to get for a day, but activated users and follow-up conversations are the real test.

My opinion is that PH only becomes a real growth channel if the product is already set up to capture intent fast.
The upvotes are the visible layer, but the real question is what happens in the first 24-72 hours after the spike: activation, follow-up conversations, and whether the traffic matches the product’s maturity.
