Is the "one-person startup" dream actually real?

Feels like everywhere you look right now, there s a new AI tool promising you can build a company solo.
No team. No budget. Just you, a laptop, and some clever prompts.

And sure building something solo has never been easier.
But building something that lasts? Feels like a different game.

You can ship faster. You can look bigger than you are.
But can you really wear all the hats founder, marketer, builder, support forever?

  • If you're building solo right now, what s been harder than you expected?

  • If you scaled a team, when did you know it was time?

What’s your go-to system for keeping track of job applications?

Spreadsheets, Notion templates, sticky notes, no matter the system, it all gets messy after 15+ applications.

Most people end up juggling too many tools, losing track of where they applied, or missing follow-ups entirely.

How do you stay organized without losing your mind or missing deadlines?

Who is using AI use in non-tech industries?

I mean, is your day job at a bank or an oil company or a manufacturer? Do you use consumer AI as part of your workflow? Does your company have any kind of objectives?

What is your reason why you build?

I ve been feeling so defeated and burnt out working a standard consulting 9-5 as of recent. The 9-5 on this engagement has really been a 6am-2am! I never want to put in that much time and effort on something that isn t truly my passion. One of my reasons why I build is to not only help others get to where they want to get in life, but to truly make an impact by shipping a generational product, and to make those 20 hours of work worth while knowing I was able to change the life of at least 1 person!

Have you ever had your website hacked even though you thought it was secure?

It s honestly frustrating when your website gets hacked, especially when you were sure it was secure. At least, I thought mine was...

It caught me off guard, and now I m rethinking everything I assumed about basic site protection.

So I m curious:

Have you ever experienced a site breach or hack like this?

This is why we built Astra Trust Centre, your single source of security truth 🛡️

We ve seen it happen too many times, a deal almost ready to close gets held up because the customer s security team needs just a few documents.

Then comes the back-and-forth: PDFs, screenshots, certifications, questionnaire answers, all scattered across folders and emails.

That s when it hit us. Security shouldn t slow deals down, it should speed them up.

At Astra, we built the Trust Center so teams can bring all their security proof into one live, branded space that's updated in real time.

How do you keep track of Competitors without losing focus?

I'm working on Draftly (dot) so, a tool to help people and businesses grow on LinkedIn. Recently, I had an experience that made me think. I wan on a call with a potential customer, and during the call they asked how we compared to another tool. I had never heard of it. Turns out, this competitor launched a few months ago and was getting attention in the same space. I tried to learn about them on the spot while on the call, but it didn't go well. The customer didn't sign up, and I realized I need to do a better job of staying updated on new tools in my space. As a small team, it's hard to keep up. We're busy building and improving Draftly, so tracking every new competitor feels impossible. Just curious: - How do you find out about new competitors early? - Do you track their features and updates regularly? If yes, how? - Are there tools, platforms, communities that help you stay on top of things? Would love to hear how others manage this.
