But what's one piece of this advice you think is actually overrated, misleading, or just doesn't apply to your experience?

Pulled my own kitty points breakdown again since it moved a lot since the last time I checked. Sitting at 388 KP total now. Forum Threads plus 272, Comments plus 101, Reviews plus 10, Maker plus 6.

Ten days ago Forum Threads were plus 87 and Comments were plus 64, so the gap did not just grow, it flipped which category actually drives the number. A handful of threads are now outscoring every comment I have ever left combined.

Today, I m doing a slightly more relaxed and bizarre corner.

The internet is full of things that are either amusing or scary, but mostly things that capture something outside the norm (and over time, even these weird things tend to become normalised).

It is a question of choosing between two evils for us now. Neither option is completely free of flaws.

Human: Recruiters with "gut feelings" who harbor unconscious bias. they reject excellent candidates who just didn't go to the "right" school or didn't just "click." Inconsistent, unfair, and un-auditable.

AI: Algorithms whose training datasets are themselves replete with historical biases. They increase the scale of discrimination at light speed, becoming so-called black boxes that end up rejecting qualified candidates for reasons that humans cannot even fathom.

We are truly deciding to exchange messy, subjective human prejudice for cold, ruthlessly efficient algorithmic prejudice. Is that really an upgrade?

I'm putting together the gallery images for our launch and the recommended size is 1270x760, which is a laptop shape. Every guide says to bake the captions into the image. On a phone that same image is the width of my thumb.

So I'm designing for a screen I'm not sure anyone is using.

This matters to me as a marketer. The gallery is the first thing a potential user sees of the product, and if the type is unreadable on their format, the whole first impression is gone before they read a single word. Same image,

completely different experience.

I joined product Hunt recently and feel a bit lost. between daily launches, upvotes, collections, and comments, it is hard to tell useful tools apart from products that just got votes from friends.
I am also unsure about the general etiquette. is lurking and upvoting standard, or should i be commenting? Do makers reply to questions from new users?
How did you navigate the site when you first joined? What habits help you filter out the noise and spot genuinely good tools?
