Building a site, app, or project? We are here to be your silent design team. Save time and your sanity by natively integrating the expansive Icons8 library of professional design assets.
This one has been a long time coming… Do you want to know how big companies have such amazing libraries of graphics? They get them delivered directly!
Until now, our API has been mainly a commercial product, but starting now anyone can access 500k+ icons, vectors, songs, and photos through our new developer portal.
The possibilities are limitless, so get creative. No-code apps? Drag-n-drop email builders? Dynamic images based on headlines? Why not?! Your users deserve options for photos beyond Unsplash and way more icons than Font Awesome. Pull in thousands of songs licensed for use in videos and illustrations that make everything more beautiful.
In case you haven’t heard of Icons8, we are a design and engineering team that has been producing content in-house for the last 8 years. Our goal is to make you look professional and consistent without needing to hire designers, or be one yourself.
Features:
- Reliably serving 500k+ calls daily (it runs our site too!)
- Documented, developer-friendly APIs
- Developer portal let’s you manage API keys and track usage
- Access icons, illustrations, music, and photos
- Tagged assets for easy search & user discovery
- Check API status and availability
It is really fun to see design becoming more code-ready. You can build some pretty powerful features by combining a few of these APIs. No waiting for custom works or design approvals lets you ship value faster. And that is the name of the game for smaller makers!
@singhamardeep yep, but we've rewritten the whole thing:
1. Rewritten from the ground up ~5x faster
2. Stats! A little secret is we didn't measure the number of requests before.
3. Automatic signup and billing
4. Documentation
5. Status page https://developers.icons8.com/st...
In short, it's getting serious.
@visualpharm I really like Icons8 assets and had enquired about pricing several months back and had plans to use it in our product www.vizardapps.com . But the new pricing is way steeper than that and kinda prohibitive to use now :(

In terms of pricing, what constitutes a 'download'? If the end user previews an image in our app will we be billed for that? Or is there some way of determining if an image is actually used?
@mrkevmcg Good question, we consider it a download is when a full-resolution asset is delivered. Say you were building a Canva-like app. If a user is mocking up a design they can scroll through many previews for free or near-free, but when they pick something and bring it to the canvas it would load the asset at full resolution, counting as a download.
